Book Club

This book club will pick yoga related books to discuss each month. We will read yoga philosophy, history, theory, and about various people whose lives have been influence by yoga and have gone on to impact others. You do not have to know anything about yoga to participate in this group.

It is ideal if you have read the book prior to coming to the discussion, it will make discussions more interesting. However, we would still love to have you join us for discussion!

We will be meeting April 2 to begin the discussion of the:

Women Who Run with the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype by Clarrisa Pinkola Estes

On April 2nd we will be discussing the introduction and the first 2 chapters of the book. It is a lot to take in! The story of Bluebeard in Chapter 2 is fascinating, I cannot wait to hear everyone's thoughts on the authors interpretation of the symbolic meaning behind the tale of Bluebeard and why we as women, choose partners like Bluebeard in our lives and how we can start making better choices moving forward with new knowledge and understanding of ourselves.

"This is a book of women's stories, held out as markers along the path. They are for you to read and contemplate in order to assist you toward your own natural-won freedom, your caring for self, animals, earth, children, sisters, lovers, and men. I'll tell you right now, the doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have an old old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door."

"For us the issue is simple. Without us, Wild Woman dies. Without Wild Woman, we die. Para Vida, for true life, both must live." ~ Clarrisa Pinkola Estes

If you want to take action steps to create the life you have always desired - this book and discussion is for you. If you want a sisterhood to belong to and grow a part of this book club is for you. This is your space!

This book club is free to join.

Yoga History & Philosophy

This is a time to learn about yoga history and philosophy and all things yoga related. Learn the foundations of Yoga and what it means to take yoga off the mat.

Yoga is about balance, awareness and discipline of the mind and body.

Yoga is about becoming calm, peaceful and unshakable.

It is acceptance of all things.

Yoga removes and heals suffering.

Yoga must be practiced and lived 24 hours a day for healing of disease, mental illness, and all ailments of body and mind.

Yoga slows the aging process and our body and mind becomes stronger, healthier and resiliant.

Come find out how all of this is possible, ask questions and discover what true yoga is (and it is NOT getting a tone and flexible body!).

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

This class is for anyone who has wanted to try yoga but believes it will be too difficult for them. This class is for women who need modifications to their practice, have health concerns/conditions/injuries, have been inactive for awhile and need to ease back into moving their bodies again, or are just looking for a more gentle practice.

In this class you never know what to expect!

We play with different yoga poses and find ways to adapt them on days we may not be feeling as mobile or steady on our feet.

Other days you may come to class and we will work more on building our strength and balance.

Vinyasa is movement breath connected movement, the breath helps you stay present in the moment and gives you more stability in your body.

Yin Meditation

Yin helps you to connect to your physical body, your mental and emotional body, and your spirit. You will stretch, relax tension, ease anxiety all while hearing meditative readings and reflections.

You will need pillows, blankets, if you have them - yoga blocks, and a yoga strap, and pen and paper. If you don't have yoga blocks - a stack of books will typically do. A terry cloth bathrobe belt can be used in placed of a yoga strap. The more pillows and blankets you have the more relaxed you can become in the postures.

Each class will have a journaling component. Journaling time is used for self-reflection and personal growth on and off the mat.

We have community time at the beginning of class for women to get to know one another and socialize. Socializing and building relationships is a vital part of yoga.

If you would rather not participate in community time, you are welcome to log into class 10 minutes after class starts to opt out of this portion of class time.

Dragonfly Wings

This is a group for women only.

We journal, do gentle yoga, talk about life, build community and sisterhood and learn the 8 limb path of Yoga and how it applies to our daily life. The first 2 limbs of Yoga are the Yamas - non-violence (compassion), non-stealing, honesty, moderation, and non-possessiveness. The Niyamas - Cleanliness/Self-Care, contentment, self-discipline, self-reflection, and surrender to something greater than ourselves.

This class focuses on gentle yoga, breath work, releasing stress, and is trauma sensitive. We don't judge so don't judge us, we are simply here to build relationships, support each one another and share this crazy journey called life with other woman from across the country.

Private Lesson

In your session we will collaborate together to work on your specific needs and goals. We will work out a plan together to address any physical, mental, emotional issues that are blocking you from living the life you were created for.

I tailor my sessions for each individual. Every person I meet with has specific goals, needs, and purposes for wanting to work together. Every person’s life history is unique to them and needs to be treated as such.

An hour private session is $90 for the first session, at which time we will determine a plan that is most suitable for you and your specific needs. Packages run from $400-$900 for 5-12 weeks.

If you wish, you can schedule a 30 minute free consultation. These consultations are valued at $45. In the consultation we will discuss how your sessions with me will work, what the expectations are of working together, and then we can decide if we are a good fit to work together.

I do not take on every client and will make referrals if I feel someone else is better suited to meet your needs. I do not work with certain issues that someone may be dealing with (for example; food addictions - I have another person I refer out to for those issues). I will never take on a client that I do not believe I have the skills to help. I am not interested in profit, I am interested in improving the quality of people's lives. The best way for me to do that at times is to refer to another helping professional who specializes in areas that differ from my own.
I have worked with a wide range of issues and life circumstances. I have helped people to understand themselves and to make better life choices, and to be able to achieve their goals, and to be begin to live the lives they always wanted to live but never believed that they could.

Yoga Nidra

For those of us who have experienced trauma, a daily Yoga Nidra practice has been scientifically proven to repair the damage done to our nervous system and to bring the left and right hemisphere of our brain back into balance. We will no longer live in a constant state of fight/flight/freeze responses and we will be able to fully process and heal from our past experiences.

In Yoga Nidra the right and left hemisphere of the brain come into balance. When the right and left hemispheres are in balance higher knowledge, insight, and understanding of past experiences take place. A state of complete physical, emotional, and mental relaxation occurs along with awareness between the conscious and subconscious areas of the mind. It is in this state that healing past trauma and discovering one’s true nature will be revealed and strengthened. It takes time and dedication for healing and transformation to occur. For many this takes 6 months to a year of 60 minutes of daily practice.

Yoga 4 Trauma

Yoga 4 Trauma
Personal Growth ~ This program is for those on their healing path and is another modality that many find to be a necessary component. When our perceptions of the world develop in a positive way, our whole quality of life improves and we find love and peace within ourselves.

  • Self Care - Taking this time for ourselves is absolutely necessary to heal. In today’s busy world it is difficult to dedicate time to unwind, destress, and reflect.

Learn what true self care is and gain tools that can be used in everyday life to bring us back to the present.

  • Originality/Customized Practice - This program is unlike the majority of yoga in the U.S. It's not about flexible poses or working out, it's specifically designed by someone who has experienced trauma that caused CPTSD to heal others also experiencing trauma/CPTSD.
  • Community - Feeling accepted in a safe, growth-focused environment with people on the healing path, is imperative to healing. Knowing that you are not alone. Acceptance is healing.
  • Small groups - The groups are no more than 6 people. If groups get too big, people can feel less safe and could feel like there isn't room for their voice.
  • Journaling - Uncensored journaling ignites progress and is a necessary tool for healing. Writing about what’s going on with us – what we’re feeling emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually; provides clarity and can give us new awareness and insights that promote growth.
  • Private Facebook Chat Room - This is a safe place to talk between sessions if anyone needs support.
